Wolf Among Us 2 Delayed Until 2024: Telltale Ditches UE4 for UE5
Indicator has announced the Wolf Among Us 2 will no longer be launched in 2023, but it has been delayed until 2024 as the development team stops using unreal motor 4 to the latest Unreal Engine 5.
We know, it is frustrating to listen to it, the study wrote in a statement published on Twitter.
While the Wolf Among Us 2 was announced for the first time in 2019, the decision to announce it at that time was taken without thinking that a worldwide pandemic would get in the way.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, the executive director of Telltale Jamie Title prepared beyond what the statement provides, explaining that although the change to Unreal Engine 5 is one of the main causes of delay, avoiding exhaustion and not
Sending an unfinished game are also part of the decision.
Making games is difficult, and they need time to be fine, and it does not do any good to any of us to send something that is not ready.
Title also talks about how his version of Telltale will not fall into the same crunchy habits of the old tells.
«I did [crunch], and I don’t want to do it again, and it is not fair to ask for it.
You cannot plan a business around you.
So, part of this is about maintaining a healthy work culture.
We don’t want to burn our good people.
It has been incredibly difficult to recruit in the last two years between COVID and labor markets and growth in the games’ industry.
So certainly, burning people or crushing it is something wrong in the long term.
It’s not how you build a business.
And as an industry, we are terrible about it.
We burn our people.
We burn our best people faster.
And as an industry, if we are going to continue growing, we have to stop it.
We just have to stop doing it and make better decisions.
Meanwhile, those who expect a new Telltale game will not have to wait so long, since the study version is still scheduled to arrive this year.
