Movie | Super Mario Movie Posters Reveal New Looks at Bowser, Toad, and Donkey Kong
Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment continue to release new posters concentrating on characters from The Super Mario Bros. Film. Today, three new posters were revealed, one for Bowler, one for Toad, and one for Donkey Kong. The Bowler poster teases the conclusion of Bowler’s attack on the penguins showcased in the movie’s very first trailer, as he triumphantly stands with a Power Star in hand. The Toad and DK posters do not provide us much to go on, simply offering a look at the characters in a field of mushrooms and the jungle, respectively. The three posters join a variety of other designs that have been launched over the last week!
The trailers for The Super Mario Bros. The movie’s 2nd trailer and recent commercial have both shown Mario and Donkey Kong fighting in an arena, but it’s unclear if this is part of Mario’s training to take on Bowler. Donkey Kong and Mario have a long history as competitors, dating back to the Donkey Kong arcade video game from 1981.
A couple of years after the Donkey Kong arcade game, Bowler would make his first appearance in 1985’s Super Mario Bros. for NEW. While Donkey Kong has actually been redeemed over the years, Bowler is most regularly depicted in an antagonistic role. There have been some exceptions, like Mario + Rabbis Sparks of Hope, but the king of the Loops tends to make Mario’s life miserable typically! Toad also debuted in the initial Super Mario Bros., and is frequently seen working as a good friend and consultant to Princess Peach.
