Southeast Asian Action RPG “GHOSTLORE” -Somitron -themed sequel with demon and youkai will appear [Developer Interview]
This project is an interview with the developer of the new indie game that you are interested in. This time, we will provide a mini -interlocked show to the developers of the Southeast Asian action RPG “ GHOSTLORE “, which started early access to PCs on April 15, developed by Andrew TEO and Adam Teo on April 15.
This is an action RPG that fights monsters that appear in Southeast Asian traditions. Enjoy the customization system of items and characters and capture the dungeon that is generated randomly. At the time of writing, it is not compatible with Japanese.
“GHOSTLORE” is being distributed early for 2,050 yen.
— First, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?
It is Andrew from Singapore. It’s difficult to answer which game you like most, but I especially like games from the late 90’s to the early 2000s. “Diablo 2” and “Kingdom Hearts” are the most memorable works.
――Why did this work developed?
Andrew when I was just 30, I came to want to make something like a game I enjoyed when I was a child. I also wanted to create a game that focuses on the stories, landscapes, and sounds in Singapore where I live.
―― Please tell me the characteristics of this work.
Andrew is set in Singapore inspired by Singapore, and monsters that appear in Southeast Asian myths and legends will appear. The behavior of these monsters in this work is also similar to being drawn in the legend. Players can customize the characters by selecting three from all six classes and combining them. In addition, the level up is unique. The character engraves the letters on your body to get new power.
――What kind of person do you want this work to play?
Andrew This work has started as a personal project, so I don’t think anything like a target. I just made it to my emotions and made it freely. Especially if you enjoy it, you will be the same age as me and like the action RPG.
――When is an early access planned? What elements will be added in the future?
It is scheduled for an early access for about a few months, and it will be less than a year. We plan to add new locations, monsters and side content regularly. In the final release, I’m going to improve the controller support and multi -player more.
――Please tell us your impressions released as an early access.
I am very pleased with the passion for people around the world to play this work.
— Is there any work influenced by this work?
Andrew I love any kind of games and pop culture, so I’m influenced by many things. In terms of game play, Diablo 2 is definitely the biggest impact, but if you look closely at the visuals, you can see the influence of Japanese games in the late Super Nintendo to the early PlayStation. “Akumajo Dracula”, “Shin Megami Tensei”, “Final Fantasy”, etc.
――Do you plan to support this work?
Andrew has received a certain number of requests from Japanese people, and in the future I am willing to support Japanese. But we are a small development team, so we have to carefully consider the priority, and above all, we must focus on completing this work. I would be very happy if anyone could translate it with volunteers, and it can be realized because it provides MOD support. Click here for the trial MOD in Steam Workshop (English).
――What had an impact on the development of the new Coronavirus?
Andrew’s development started around 2018 or 2019, but since I was doing another job during the day, the development was very slow. I was able to concentrate on the development only on weekends or weekday nights (if I had the energy left). When the new Corona began to spread and started working from home, commuting time was gone, so I was able to spend time with the development of this work.
――Is it okay to distribute or monetize this work?
Andrew Yes, I’m glad you can distribute this work! If you tag our Twitter (@ghostlore_game), we will share here as well.
– Finally, please give a message to Japanese readers.
Hello from Singapore! I am glad if you are interested in this work. If this work is successful, I would like to make it a series and use a different culture in each work. Perhaps someday, a sequel with a Japanese theme that will appear on demons and youkai will appear.
–thank you.
