Disciples Liberation in the test Great Dark Fantasy
Bahamas Lagoon (バハムートラグーン) is a Tactical RPG video game created and also published by Japanese Culture Square. He released Super Nintendo in February 1996 only in Japan.
In the sub-genre of the strategy role-playing games, the Disciples series is just as part of the inventory as King s Bounty and Genre-Primus Heroes of Might and Magic. More than 20 years ago, the series launched some good titles. The last one is already twelve years back. Time to finish this nurse track, Publisher Calypso Games thought and committed the Canadian developers of RIMA Studio to implement Disciples: Liberation. Although the team has no experience in the genre, yet a very decent entry in the Disciples series has succeeded.

A world in war
As in the predecessors, it takes us to the dark-fantasy world of Nevendaar. A world in which the various races like the elves, the Empire of the people who are undead and the demons in eternal conflict. In the midst of this chaos we hatch in the role of Ayanna, who dates together with her childhood friend Orion as a mercenary. One day, the two are drawn into a story in which they are in the center, and they have to deal with the torn states in the world.
Let s save one or the other. Again and again, there are difficult decisions that can have far-reaching consequences. Source: PC Games The story is interesting and waiting for some interesting phrases during the course. Above all, she lives on the bang-hard decisions, which she repeatedly demanded the player. The four already mentioned fractions combat each other and usually also have internal conflicts running, which leads to a very complex total yield. Often, it is important to make a decision on the side of certain NPCs. It is not always apparent immediately what impacts for our standing with the four peoples. So we can beat ourselves on the side of a troop of people, but still look at the empire because the fighters we support may belong to a religious group that works on the fall of the imperator.
The world of Nevendaar is divided into a good dozen level, by moving our heroine on behalf of our entire army. Similar to King s Bounty 2, the developers also have at Disciples: Liberation (Buy Now €49.99 / €39.99) The lap-based strategy component from this part of the game removed. Instead, we move in real time through the territories. However, one has maintained the stylized ISO perspective as usual for the genre. In our opinion, this fits much better to the game and also plays much more pleasant than the third-person view in the competition.
A city as a refuge
As lived from the predecessors, we collect raw materials in the levels, take production building for resources, talk to NPCs and meet a lot of enemy armies. In the city of Alien we build buildings of the individual fractions to recruit and train their units. Source: PC Games The raw materials mentioned we need to acquire new units to train them, learn spells, to improve items and expand buildings. For again, a central city serves us as a base for our adventures. However, this is not a fixed starting point on the Overwent, but a mystical place we reach by portal. Early in the game, our heroes randomly stumble across the mysterious Allan. No matter where we are in the world, at any time we can switch to the city view at the touch of a button.
Here is a blacksmith, a marketplace and various buildings of the various factions. The latter serve to recruit a variety of units of the respective peoples. The higher these buildings are upgraded, the better troops can be undertaken. However, we also need a good reputation at the appropriate faction. So it is advantageous if you are at least with one of the peoples really thickness to have access to the most powerful fighters. At such Hexed battlefields the fighting takes place. Good tactical facilities
Well-trained warriors are needed, because it is fought more than enough in the world of Nevendaar. The battles take place in round-based tactics on separate hex field cards. The train order of the different units will be linked to their respective initiative value on the left side we specify the list of and compilation of our troops. Three units in the back line, Anna, two companions and up to ten other units. Source: PC Games determined. The individual fighters can have different types of action points that determine how often the unit per round attacks and movements can perform. Each unit type has special skills for you. This includes a standard attack, a special attack that is more powerful, but has a cooldown, as well as a passive ability.
Added to this is a so-called back line capability, which then comes to carry when placing the unit in the rearmost line of your own posing. In this rearmost line can be placed up to three fighters. These do not actively participate in the fight, but supply the remaining troops through their back line capability but with exciting passive as well as active bonuses. For example, if we put a druid of elves into the back line, it heals once per round our unit with the lowest lifestyles.
In addition to our heroine Ayanna, we play up to ten regular units as well as two companions in the actual battle formation. How many troops we can command, also depends on Ayanna s leadership. The more powerful one unit is, the more leadership is needed for you. So we decide if we rather set up stronger units, or if we work with mass instead of class. So there is quite a few tactical considerations that begin when setting up your own army. During the fighting experience, we must pay attention to things like placement of the opponents, obstacles on the battlefield and special soil effects that can either damage or strengthen us.
